Monthly Archives: September 2012

My Birthday!

September is one of my favorite months, mostly because it’s my birthday month. 🙂 The girls from work got me a Hello Kitty cake the day before my birthday. (I took off work for a few days to celebrate.) 😉

Isn’t it the cutest?!

♥

My boyfriend took me out to dinner on the Victorian Princess cruise later that evening.

Our love for coffee! haha.

My chocolate cake for dessert!

Isn’t the sunset just beautiful? It was so nice and peaceful on the lake that night.

It was a perfect night, couldn’t ask for anything more. 🙂

♥

On my actual birthday, the 29th of September, I went to the annual Wine Fest. This event was on my “things to do before 30 list”.  I got to cross one thing off my list so far! One down, 29 more to go!  Anyways, I went and did the wine tastings and tours at the local grape farms.

They even had a clown at one of the tours!!!

My wine glass I got from the Wine Fest. Starting a collection since I plan on going EVERY year. 😉

The shirts they had there. I thought this one was cute.

Well, this pretty much sums up my little birthday adventures! I had a great time, thanks to my friends and family!!!

♥

********UPDATE!*******

My best friend since second grade got me this adorable ice cream cake. It has my photo on it and everything! How stinking cute is that! This would be the first time I got to eat my own face! haha. 😉

DIY: Twine Pumpkin

Have you ever went to a craft store or any other store looking for your fall decor? Only to find that the specific item will cost you an arm and a leg? One of my goals this year is to decorate my little apartment without spending hundreds of dollars. So far so good!

Now, have you seen those twig/twine pumpkins with the little lights inside them at your favorite craft store? I always wanted one of those, until I found out they are $25+!!! Some even go over $40! I just couldn’t spend THAT much money on something that I could just make myself. With a little bit of research I discovered how to make my own on Recaptured Charm. The best part about this project, was that EVERYTHING came from the dollar store.

Things you need:

-White glue.(or Mod Podge.)

-Balloons.

-Gloves(optional).

-Scissors.

-Sponge brush.

-Jute twine.

-Stick (found in your backyard)

-Spray Paint

-Battery operated tea light or twinkle lights.

First thing you do is blow up your balloon to whatever size you want your pumpkin to be.

Cover your entire balloon with glue. I used the sponge brush to do that. Cut long pieces of twine and dip them into the white glue. I used a paper bowl to hold all of my glue. Make sure the twine is SOAKED in glue before you wrap your balloon. The more glue the better.

Make sure to leave a hole at the top of the balloon and a hole at the bottom. You need enough room for a battery operated tea light or some twinkle lights to go in. And a hole for your stick. I measured my stick so I knew how big to leave the hole at the top. Once dry, pop the balloon.

I used a hot glue gun to glue my stick in the hole of my pumpkin.

After the hot glue dries, go ahead and spray paint your pumpkin any color you’d like! (I used gold to match my living room.)) You can use orange, yellow, brown, bronze, what ever you have in mind! Get creative with it! Insert your tea light or twinkle lights and you’re done! (Please don’t insert actual candles in your pumpkin, they may start a fire.)

It’s the PERFECT center piece for our coffee table. I just absolutely love it! The little colorful leaves and the glass pumpkins I also got from the dollar store. Don’t underestimate the power of a dollar! 😉

DIY: Marble Magnets.

Yes I know that pretty much EVERYONE has made these. So of course I had to try it out too! These little magnets are just so adorable and super easy to make. Plus it cost me under $5! I think I will make more later. 😉

Things you need:

-Mod Podge

-Super glue/ gorilla glue

-Magnets

-Flat glass marbles

-Scissors

-Scrapbook paper/magazines/old cards

Measure and trace your glass marble on your scrapbook paper and cut it out. I got the glass marbles at the dollar store. The scrapbook paper I already had. You can use magazines, maps, old cards, pretty much anything!

Now mod podge the cut out onto the marble. Make sure to press firmly and get rid of as much air bubbles as you can. Once dry, super glue your magnet on the back. I got the super glue at Micheal’s for under $3 with a coupon. 😉 I already had mod podge on hand, so that didn’t cost me anything.

Let everything dry for a few good hours. I put a few heavy books on top of them to make sure they dry nice and firm.

Once dry, go a head and decorate your fridge, locker, whatever you like! They make great gifts too!

Breakfast Pancake Muffins.

As I was browsing through pinterest, like always, I stumbled upon this delicious recipe. I just had to make it right away! I did alter the recipe just a tad bit.

Things you need:

Boxed pancake mix

Milk

Fruit (any kind)

Cinnamon

Bacon/Sausage

Maple Syrup

Preheat your oven to 350. Mix your pancake mix with the milk instead of water. I did about 3 cups of pancake mix and about 4 cups of milk. After that, spray your muffin sheet with cooking spray. Pour your pancake mix about half or three quarters of the way.

Slice up your fruit, I used banana and strawberries. ( Blueberries, apples, raspberries, ect will do also.) Drop a few pieces of your fruit on top of each muffin. Just make sure the top is mostly covered. Sprinkle some cinnamon on top. You can add a little bit of sugar if you’d like them to be a little sweeter.

Put your muffins in the oven for about 12-15 minutes. Stick a toothpick in them to make sure they are done. Let it cool, pour maple syrup on them and enjoy!

You can also make them with bacon or sausage. Make sure you cook the meat all the way before putting it in the muffins.

Pumpkin Spice Cupcakes

As much as I love summer, autumn has to be my favorite season. The leaves changing colors, the cool temperature, all the pumpkins on display! Check out these adorable owl candle holders!! Got them at the dollar store for JUST a dollar!

I LOVE pumpkin anything, especially during my favorite season! I found this little recipe on Truleylovely and decided to try it out! It is soo simple to make, I cant believe I haven’t tried this sooner!

Things you need:

Box of spice cake

3 eggs

1 1/3 cup of water

apple sauce

1 can pumpkin pure

cinnamon

sprinkles

cream cheese frosting

food coloring (optional)

Add all the ingredients according to the box. Mine needed 3 eggs, 1 1/3 water, and oil. Substitute apple sauce for oil. (MAKE SURE YOU DONT USE MORE APPLESAUCE THEN REQUIRED!!!)  Once, everything is mixed together, dump the pumpkin pure into your mixture.

After everything is mixed together, go ahead and fill your up your cupcakes with the batter!

I baked mine in the oven at 350 for about 20 mins. Just make sure your toothpick comes out clean when poked!

Let your cupcakes cool and frost them! If you like you can always add a bit of food coloring to your frosting. (orange, yellow, ect.) Add a dash of cinnamon, and finish them off with some festive sprinkles!

Enjoy!

Pizza Casserole.

This is one of my favorite casseroles. I found a recipe online about a year ago, and like always I changed it up quite a bit to make it better.:)

Things you need:

  1. 4 cups of egg noodles. (cooked)
  2. 1 lbs. of ground turkey. (beef)
  3. 2 cups of pepperoni.
  4. 1 onion. (chopped)
  5. 1 green bell pepper. (chopped.)
  6. 4 gloves of garlic. (minced)
  7. 1 can olives. (sliced)
  8. 1 small can of mushrooms.
  9. 2 jars of pizza sauce. ( 14 ounce.)
  10. 2 cups of mozzarella cheese. (shredded)
  11. 6 tablespoons of milk.
  12. salt
  13. pepper

Pre heat your oven to 350.

Cook your egg noodles according to the package in a large pot. Big enough for everything else to fit.

Brown your pound of ground turkey with the garlic. Cook enough until there is no pink. Drain and add to the egg noodles.

Now simmer your onion and green pepper on low heat. I usually simmer until the onions are transparent.  Once done add to the egg noodles.

Now add the olives, mushrooms, pizza sauce, milk, 1 cup of cheese and pepperoni to the mixture. ( I sliced my pepperoni and left some over for the top.) Salt and pepper to taste.

When everything is mixed together, pour it into a 3QT casserole dish. and top it off with the left over pepperoni.

Stick it in the oven for about 20 minutes.

After that, take it out and top it off with the rest of the cheese and put it back in for another 5 to 10 minutes, or until the cheese is melted.

Let it cool and enjoy!

You don’t have to make as much or as little. You can cut the ingredients in half, or double them. Also, you can add as many veggies as you like.  Pretty much the possibilities are endless with this recipe. 🙂

30 Things Before 30.

Every single one of us has plans and goals for our future. Whether we make an actual visual list or not, we still hope to accomplish each and every goal we have. I am more of a visual person then anything and I will most defiantly be making a list. And LOTS of them!

This is a list of my 30 goals before I turn 30. As I accomplish them, I will be updating my progress.

30. Celebrate my 30 years in some major way!

I know 30 years sounds sooo far away, but this list will keep me on track for what I truly want to do in my life. So if for some reason I forget what’s most important to me I can always come back and check. 😛

Hopefully my list will inspire others to think about what they would like to accomplish in their life. 🙂
